General Description:
Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Administrative Operations Manager cleans and maintains laboratory glassware. Prepares 24-hour urine containers. Serves as a courier, delivering supplies, patient reports, and mail to physician's offices and satellite facilities. Makes routine and STAT specimen pickup at physician's offices and satellite facilities (i.e. Parrish Healthcare Center at Port St John, Royal Oak-Port St John and Royal Oak-Titusville).
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for safe operation of Laboratory vehicle during routine and stat pickups for the Laboratory specimens form offsite facilities and physician offices. Transports all materials with attention to patient confidentiality and safety.
- Transport diagnostic X-rays to and from Royal Oak Medical Offices Titusville and Port St John to Parrish Healthcare Center at Port St John.
- Deliver Pharmacy medications and supplies to Parrish Healthcare Center at Port St John, Parrish Community Clinic and Parrish Wound Healing Center.
- Accurately documents daily mileage in the daily logbook. Performs basic operational inspection of vehicle daily, to include oil, tires, lights and water. Reports any vehicle problems to the Laboratory Operations Manager. Keeps vehicle supplied with gas and interior clean.
- Monitors the pneumatic tube system and delivers specimens to the appropriate section during scheduled periods.
- Stamps outpatient requisitions with date and time received in the laboratory and informs appropriate personnel of STAT orders
- Cleans and maintains laboratory glassware. Aids in putting away laboratory supplies.
- Accurately measures and adds preservatives to 24 hour urine containers and properly labels. Prepares cytology specimen bottles with Formalin.
- Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Formal Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
- Valid State of Florida Drivers License and Motor Vehicle Record that is acceptable to PMC’s corporate automobile insurance carrier. License will be screened prior to employment and annually thereafter.
