SUMMARY

The Laboratory Lead Courier, executes courier route assignments maintaining specimen integrity in conjunction with NYS Health Department Regulations. Couriers must perform duties in a professional and courteous manner, promoting superior customer service and relations. Our Lead courier is responsible for handling incoming client calls while on the road and dispatching sample pickup requests to the appropriate couriers that are working. The Lead Courier also works closely with the Patient Service and Lab Processing teams, to troubleshoot any issues that arise outside of regular business hours.

SCHEDULE: Evenings | 4:30pm-1am   

ATTRIBUTES

  • Five (5) years of driving experience, with a valid driver’s license required
  • Friendly, kind and customer service oriented
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions
  • Willingness to be flexible with scheduled shifts and routes as needed
  • Rochester area geographical knowledge preferred
  • One (1) year
  • RRH Logistics experience
  • Computer skills such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, basic web navigation
  • Demonstrates leadership to manage off-shift staff members and/or dispatching needs
  • Dispatching experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

Courier and Route Management

  • Execute courier route assignments, ensuring timely pick-up and delivery of priority specimens.
  • Ability to perform on multiple routes, cover staff vacations, and handle reassignments to different routes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of pick-up and delivery on Route Sheets.
  • Assist in route development and seek opportunities for route efficiencies.

Vehicle and Compliance Responsibilities

  • Operate company vehicle according to federal, state, and highway regulations.
  • Maintain specimen integrity and adhere to NYS Health Department Regulations.
  • Perform procedures ensuring compliance with corporate, OSHA, state, and federal standards.
  • Notify the coordinator of any vehicle maintenance requirements.

Communication, Training, and Support

  • Communicate with Logistics Dispatch via Bluetooth while on the road.
  • Participate in the training of new staff and assist with dispatch coverage as needed.
  • Utilize computer programs for internet, email, and mandatory education requirements.
  • Handle client requests for sample pickups and provide Dispatch coverage when necessary.

EDUCATION:

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: 

NYS DL - valid New York State Driver's License - New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYSDMV)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
