Essential Functions

1. Safely transport and deliver prescription medications and medical supplies from the pharmacy to patient’s homes or healthcare facilities, ensuring the correct, secure, and timely delivery of all items.
2. Maintain strict adherence to delivery schedules, meeting deadlines and ensuring safe transport. Observe all traffic laws and driving regulations, ensuring safe driving practices at all times. Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures regarding vehicle operation, delivery tracking, and documentation.
3. Verify and double-check delivery orders for accuracy before leaving the pharmacy, ensuring all necessary medications and supplies are included.
4. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.
5. Interact with customers in a professional, courteous, and timely manner to provide the highest level of customer service.
6. Follow pre-established delivery routes to ensure efficient time management and timely deliveries. Report any delivery issues, delays, or vehicle malfunctions promptly to dispatch, using either phone or electronic means.
7. Maintain a clean and well-maintained delivery vehicle, regularly inspecting it for safety and cleanliness.
8. Perform regular cleaning and sanitization of pharmacy infusion equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures. Ensure all infusion supplies are properly cleaned and prepared for use, maintaining compliance with infection control standards.
9. Follow strict protocols for the cleaning, storing, and handling of infusion equipment, ensuring all items are ready for patient use in a sterile and safe condition.
10. Document cleaning and maintenance activities, tracking compliance with pharmacy and regulatory standards.
11. Prepares packing slips and gathers supplies required for dispensing, utilizing established procedures. Prepares FedEx label for shipment of medications.
12. Assists in maintaining adequate stock levels of supplies (i.e., labels, vials, etc.) in the pharmacy. Communicates needed supplies to be ordered for patient care.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education, Licensure or Certification:
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• All must have a current state issued driver’s license, must be active and valid the last three consecutive years
• A confirmed driving motor vehicle record (MVR) successfully demonstrating no major violations in the past three consecutive years, no more than one preventable accident with one moving violation in past three years, no more than two minor violations with no at-fault accidents in the past three years.
• Drivers between the ages of 21 and 25 must have a clean motor vehicle record (no accidents and no tickets received).

Work Experience or Related Experience:
• Previous delivery or driving experience is preferred.
• Experience or knowledge of pharmacy infusion cleaning procedures is required
• At least six months of experience in which incumbents regularly interface with customers is essential to perform customer services functions as described
• Experience in the healthcare or medical fields preferred
• One year of previous delivery experience preferred

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills are necessary as is the ability to remain customer service oriented during situations in which patients or caregivers may be frustrated or upset
• The knowledge and ability to operate smart devices (e.g., smart phone, tablets), computers and hand held scanning devices are required
• The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions is required to ensure accurate completion of deliveries.
• The ability to protect and maintain the confidentiality of patient protected health information and follow standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with HQAA and HIPAA is required
• The ability to navigate correctly using GPS technology and to navigate a new daily route is required
• Good organization and prioritization skills are required to plan and deliver pharmacy supplies and medications.
• The ability to verbally communicate with patients and care givers in a compassionate and clear manner is required. Spanish speaking skills are desirable but not required
• The ability to work independently, while adhering to strict policies and procedures.
• The ability to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate unplanned events, if needed.

Equipment:
• Smart devices (e.g., smart phone, tablets), computers and hand held scanning devices
• Ability to safety operate a motor vehicle (car, truck, van, SUV, etc.)

Travel Requirements and Conditions

• Heavy daily local travel is required to perform deliveries

Work Environment, Conditions and Demands

• Work requires the operation of a motorized vehicle to complete deliveries, as described
• On a very frequent basis (75%-100% of the day), drivers are exposed to weather as a daily condition of the role
• Environmental conditions will vary based on the location of a delivery or pick-up, including but not limited to patients’ private homes, hospitals, adult care homes, assisted living facilities and other healthcare facilities. Periodically, (approximately 50%-75% of the time) patient locations will be at private homes, adult care homes and assisted living facilities.
• The position involves working a safety-sensitive environment, requiring a high degree of attention to safety standards and practices.


Physical Requirements and Demands

• The ability to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate unplanned events, if needed.
• This role entails prolonged sitting (approximately 50%-75% of the day) while driving a vehicle as described. The ability to regularly and efficiently move in and out of vehicle to make deliveries is needed.
