Description

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for an individual to join our team as a Medical Courier Shift Leader (2nd Shift) in Madison, AL. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the department. The selected candidate will also be responsible for ensuring the shift operates safely, efficiently, and effectively.


**This position MUST be 2nd Shift/Evenings.****Shift differential applies to eligible evening and overnight hours.**

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)

- Ensure a safe and efficient operating environment with adequate staffing levels to meet department goals

- Coordinate long distance courier runs nightly to ensure all shipments, packages and mail are handled appropriately

- Oversee blood product import/export functions for the center to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments

- Make regular on-site visits to hospital client sites to assess customer service needs

- Pack blood products, blood samples and other items for shipment according to established packing procedures

- Act as a courier and drive a LifeSouth vehicle

- Coordinate the movement of inventory within the region between hospitals

- Increase the utilization of the fleet and minimize costs


Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED

- Valid driver’s license. Must also meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements

- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

- Ability to follow moderately complex oral and written instructions

- Ability to maintain records in accordance with compliance and regulatory standards

- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred

- One year of related experience in blood center operations preferred

- Previous supervisory experience preferred

This is a full-time position. Starting salary range is $18.00-$19.80 an hour. Shift differential applies to eligible evening and overnight hours.
