Under the direction of the Manager of Support Services and the Distribution Coordinator, the DME Delivery Technician position is responsible for the delivery, installation, and pick up of durable medical equipment, oxygen, medical supplies and other materials in and around the Jacksonville area.

Position Details

  • Compensation: Β $17.00 - $18.50 hour; full benefits package including 23 days annual PTO
  • Work Hours: Monday - Friday 9:30am - 6:00pm; usually a few Saturdays a month
  • Special Requirements: Must be able to lift 75 pounds


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Delivers medical equipment, oxygen, medical supplies and other materials.
  • Installs equipment at patients’ homes, residential facilities, and other healthcare facilities.
  • Teaches patients, caregivers, and clinical staff in the proper use of equipment.
  • Explain and demonstrates the operation, maintenance, and safety requirements for equipment setup for the delivery of oxygen.Β  Documents and obtains signatures to verify the training.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment according to department protocols.
  • Maintains universal precautions in contacts with patients and equipment.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of warehouse, vehicles, equipment and supplies.
  • Responsible for inspection of vehicle and reporting needed maintenance or repairs.
  • Enters information regarding activities into computer, or submits data to appropriate personnel for entry.
  • Provides customer service to patients, caregivers and staff.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement Activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Support Services.

Education/Experience & Required Licenses:

Any combination of education and experience that would provide required skills and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • High School or GED, or equivalent experience.
  • One (1) year experience in materials handling in a home/healthcare environment.
  • Driving record acceptable to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Home medical equipment and components of the equipment.
  • Routine maintenance and inspections of vehicles.
  • Following policy and procedure manuals.
  • Customer service.
  • Communicating with patients and caregivers.
  • Reading maps.
